About Noah
License #: 3094I believe good therapy starts with a genuine human connection. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I’m both compassionate and straightforward, and that I’m willing to ask meaningful questions while staying steady when conversations become difficult. My clinical work is shaped by a strong foundation in both research and practice. I hold a BA in Psychology, a master’s degree in Counseling, and a PhD in Clinical Counseling. I am trained in EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. These approaches guide my work, but therapy with me is never rigid or one-size-fits-all. I tailor the process to each person or couple, focusing on what will be most helpful for your specific goals. I’m especially interested in how early experiences, trauma, and relational patterns influence the ways we cope, connect, and protect ourselves. Much of my work involves helping people develop greater emotional awareness, work through shame and self-criticism, and create more secure and meaningful relationships. Outside the therapy room, I’m a family-oriented person who values time with the people closest to me. I enjoy traveling, exploring new places, and recharging that way. I’m also a lifelong Chicago sports fan, particularly the Bears and the Cubs, which means I’m familiar with patience, hope, and sticking with something through ups and downs!

My Therapeutic Approach
My approach is collaborative, direct, and grounded in research. I draw from EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, tailoring the work to your specific needs and goals. I provide both individual therapy and couples counseling, and I strive to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and honest.
Who I Help Best
I work with adults and couples who want real, lasting change. My primary areas of focus include trauma, compulsive or problematic sexual behaviors, relationship and intimacy issues, and helping people grow in emotional awareness and emotional intelligence. Clients often come to me feeling ashamed, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how they got where they are. Together, we work to understand the roots of these struggles and develop practical, evidence-based paths forward.
What a First Session Is Like
The first session is meant to feel welcoming, not overwhelming. There will be some basic paperwork to review at the beginning, where we’ll go over things like confidentiality, logistics, and what therapy is and isn’t. I try to keep this part straightforward so we can spend most of our time actually talking. After that, my main focus is getting to know you and understanding what brings you in. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. I’ll ask questions, listen carefully, and help you put words to what’s been going on, whether that feels clear or still pretty messy. We’ll also talk about what you’re hoping to get out of therapy and I’ll give you a sense of how I would approach working with you toward those goals. That might include the types of therapy I’d use, what the process often looks like, and what you can realistically expect over time. Just as important, we’ll spend some time seeing if we’re a good fit for each other. Therapy works best when you feel comfortable, understood, and respected. By the end of the session, you should have a clearer idea of whether working together feels right and what next steps might look like. There’s no pressure to commit on the spot. The first session is about clarity, comfort, and starting the conversation.
