About Amy
License #: CSW010197I am a cognitive-behavioral therapist with 30 years of clinical experience specializing in the treatment of mood disorders, including depression, anxiety, sleep problems, and related conditions. Over the course of my career, I have built a practice rooted in evidence-based methods and grounded in genuine human connection. I hold an advanced credential from the Feeling Good Institute, Level 4 Trainer, placing me among a select group of clinicians qualified to mentor and certify other therapists in TEAM-CBT, the institute's integrative model of cognitive-behavioral therapy. This advanced certification reflects my commitment not only to clinical excellence, but to advancing the field through teaching and supervision.
My Therapeutic Approach
At the center of my work is a simple, steady belief: every client deserves to be met where they are. Sessions are paced to the individual, with empathy guiding the process and collaboration shaping the goals. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all protocol, I work alongside each client to identify unhelpful patterns, build new skills, and create lasting change in mood and daily life. I use a combination of CBT, ACT, EFT, Brainspotting, and evidence-based lifestyle changes to improve mood and functioning.
Who I Help Best
I work primarily with adults navigating mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and the stress that often comes with major life transitions. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck, caught in cycles of worry, low mood, or self-doubt that haven't responded to willpower alone. I also have deep experience helping clients with insomnia and other sleep difficulties. Using CBT-based approaches, I help people retake the night: changing the thoughts and behaviors that keep sleep out of reach, and building routines that restore restful, reliable sleep. For many clients, better sleep becomes a turning point in their broader recovery. Whether you're facing a long-standing pattern or a recent shift, my goal is the same: to meet you where you are, work at a pace that feels right, and help you build skills that last well beyond our sessions together.
What a First Session Is Like
The first session is designed to accomplish three things at once: getting to know you, gathering the clinical information I need to help you effectively, and making sure you feel informed and comfortable with how we work together. Getting to Know Each Other: We start by getting to know each other as people. I'll ask about what's bringing you in, but also about your life more broadly, your work, relationships, what's going well, and what you hope will be different. This isn't just small talk. Understanding the full picture of your life helps me see you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms, and lays the groundwork for a trusting therapeutic relationship. Clinical Intake: From there, I'll gather more detailed information so I don't miss anything critical in helping you. You don't need to have everything neatly organized. I'll guide the conversation, and you can share at whatever pace feels right. I'll also walk you through the practical side of working together and finally, there's space for your questions. The goal of our first meeting is simple: for you to feel heard, for me to understand what you need, and for both of us to feel confident that this is a good fit.
