About Jasmine

License #: 37578

I'm Jasmine, a board certified clinical psychologist who helps kids, teens, adults, and families untangle overwhelming emotions and find practical ways forward. I specialize in eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions, and I love supporting helpers - healthcare workers, therapists, children of immigrants - people who often carry more than they share. I grew up in Texas, trained in New York, and love visiting Rio de Janeiro. The Texas in me brings genuine warmth, the New York in me brings straightforward clarity, and the Rio part of me carries playful, free-spirited energy. This balance helps clients feel cared for while also being gently challenged, with space for both serious work and moments of lightness along the way. Background: Before moving to Austin and starting my own private practice, I worked for 8 years in an academic medical center in inpatient and partial hospitalization for pediatric eating disorders in Plano, TX. Prior to that, I did a postdoctoral fellowship at the Dallas VA, focused on Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy. My internship was at the University of Rochester Medical Center, working with children and adolescents. I earned my doctorate from St. John’s University and while in New York, I did externships at Bellevue Hospital and Zucker Hillside Hospital.

My Therapeutic Approach

Therapy with me is a collaborative process where we slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and find a way forward that feels both sustainable and authentic. I often think of my role as an “emotional translator.” Many of the families, couples, and individuals I work with come in feeling stuck—misunderstood by others, or even figuring themselves out. My job is to help put words to those experiences, bridge communication, and create clarity so people can feel more connected, supported, and understood. I see symptoms like anxiety, depression, eating concerns, or relational conflict as signals—not flaws—that point to something important in need of care. Together, we’ll learn to listen to those signals, understand their meaning, and build tools to respond in healthier, more compassionate ways. My approach blends evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, ACT, and relational therapy) with warmth, curiosity, flexibility, and humor. In therapy, you can expect both practical strategies—like how to manage overwhelming emotions, set boundaries, or interrupt unhelpful patterns—and deeper exploration of the relationships, identities, and life experiences that shape who you are.

Who I Help Best

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, with particular experience in eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, and transitions. I also have a passion for supporting helpers (such as healthcare providers and therapists) and children of immigrants - both young and the “sandwich generation” taking care of kids and aging parents at the same time. My goal is to offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel seen, understood, and empowered to move toward the life and relationships you want.

What a First Session Is Like

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable. My goal in our first session is to help you feel grounded, understood, and not judged. We’ll spend time talking about what’s bringing you in right now — what feels hard, stuck, confusing, or overwhelming. I’ll ask some questions about your history, relationships, and patterns so I can understand the bigger picture, but it won’t feel like an interrogation. Think of it more as a thoughtful conversation. You don’t need to have the “right words.” Part of my work is helping translate emotions that feel tangled or hard to name. By the end of the session, you can expect: 1) a clearer sense of how I understand what’s going on, 2) initial thoughts about where we might focus, 3) space to ask questions about how I work, and 4) a collaborative plan for next steps. Some people leave the first session feeling relieved. Others feel emotionally stirred up. Both are normal. Therapy is a space where we move at a pace that feels steady and sustainable for you. You don’t have to prepare anything in advance — just come as you are.
