About Melissa
License #: 88298I am an EMDR-trained, Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, identity concerns, and major life transitions. My work is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and grounded in an understanding of the nervous system and mind–body connection. Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in movement- and body-based professions, which continues to shape how I understand stress, trauma, and healing as lived, physical experiences—not just cognitive ones. I also bring lived experience as a former first responder, as well as a deep respect for creativity, curiosity, and the many ways people make meaning.

My Therapeutic Approach
My approach is warm, collaborative, and paced to your nervous system. EMDR is a significant tool in my work, alongside mind–body integration, psychoeducation, and practical coping skills that support both insight and stability. I don’t believe therapy should strip people down to symptoms. Many clients I work with are creative, thoughtful, neurodivergent, or deeply reflective; and therapy becomes a space where those parts are welcomed, not minimized. We work together in a way that respects your inner world, your rhythms, and your capacity.
Who I Help Best
I work best with adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to go from here; often despite being capable, insightful, or outwardly “high functioning.” Many of my clients are creatives, readers, thinkers, and helpers; others are veterans, first responders, or individuals from multicultural or third-culture backgrounds. I’m especially helpful for people who have spent years adapting, masking, or carrying responsibility, and are now ready for a more integrated, authentic way forward.
What a First Session Is Like
The first session is slow, grounding, and client-led. If therapy is new to you, I’ll gently guide the process; if you’ve been in therapy before, we’ll follow what feels most useful to you. There is no pressure to share everything, no forced trauma processing, and no expectation to “fix” yourself. You can expect a space that feels human, respectful, and thoughtful; where curiosity is encouraged and progress is never rushed.
