About Alysse

License #: 82743

Hello! My name is Alysse Shropshire. I founded my practice as a result of my personal journey and professional commitment to healing. I grew up in a turbulent and dysfunctional environment that all too often did not feel safe. I lived with anxious and perfectionist ideas that if I could just be perfect then nothing bad could happen to me. My formative years were spent walking on eggshells and being broken down until I believed that I was not good enough. In recent years, as I've navigated the challenges of infertility, I have come to recognize the profound emotional and psychological toll of reproductive trauma. The struggle of trying to balance ambiguous grief with maintaining hope for the future. The anxiety that comes with having complete lack of control. Unfortunately, I am not alone and mine is not a unique story. I started this practice with the intention to provide clients with access to all of the elements of therapy that have made such a difference to me in my own life. The only constant in life is change and change can be what you make of it! My personal testimony is that while healing can be long and arduous, it is well worth the effort to change your life from surviving to thriving.

My Therapeutic Approach

I have training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), along with CBT and DBT. Together these therapies support healing while building resilience, self-compassion, empowerment and healthy relationships. I am an empirically based and biblically informed therapist. I use techniques that enhance the natural way our brains are designed. I seek to understand my clients' unique life stories and to work with those stories as a whole: past, present, and future; mind, body, and spirit.

Who I Help Best

Do you find yourself struggling with not feeling good enough? Do you experience frequent parental stress, anxiety, or guilt? Maybe you are in the middle of something life altering or unexpected. You are not alone! I specialize in treating anxiety, various forms of trauma, and life transition issues. Adversities typically faced by the clients I work with are struggles stemming from childhood issues, debilitating anxiety, infertility, perinatal anxiety/stress, parenting challenges, and traumatic experiences. Whether you are struggling with the past, present, or worried about the future I can help.

What a First Session Is Like

In our first session, the main focus will be allowing you to express your thoughts, feelings, and struggles bringing you into therapy. The first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you and for you to begin building trust and comfort with me and the therapy process. I will likely ask you pertinent information regarding any struggles or symptoms you may be experiencing as well as general information about your life and your support system. We will discuss your preferences for scheduling and goals you aim to work towards. Most clients begin to experience relief from emotional distress within the first month and continue to see progress, improvement, and growth thereafter.
