About Amy

License #: 76549

I have been seeing clients since 2016, and am a LPC supervisor. I opened LiveWell counseling, along with my husband, and 2019. Our first location is in Amarillo, and Dallas is our second location. I love Therapy! I love my clients! Creating a safe space for my clients gives me tremendous purpose. I’m a mom to three adult children, and a fairly new Dallas resident! I still commute to Amarillo to care for those clients of mine and manage the business.

My Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is most centered around cognitive behavioral therapy, but also uses exposure therapy, which creates a honest and at times challenging environment. My hope is always for my clients to grow! I am energetic, and placing high priority on a relationship with the client and my client feeling unconditional positive regard in the safe setting of therapy. Some of the feedback I have gotten from my therapy style is that I am direct, honest, but also very personable.

Who I Help Best

I work best with couples and women. Who doesn’t want to improve their relationship or just their daily quality of life! Adults go through trials and sometimes are so busy they don’t have the time to sort through how life has impacted them, and heal.During couples work, I will focus on meeting goals established by my clients, and teaching them how to rebuild, trust, reconnect, and have a vibrant, strong relationship! My focus in my work with women is to help them emotionally, self regulate, specifically high achieving women who struggle with anxiety. I’m certified in treating anxiety and OCD. I will work with my client to achieve their own personal goals while creating a safe place to process and change.

What a First Session Is Like

In the first session, you can expect to go through ann intake process with me. This will take about 50 minutes or so. This is a time for both of us to ask questions to one another, this allows us to see if we are a good fit for each other. Some of these questions can feel intrusive, but I will use as much respect and compassion as I can – and you can always decide you don’t want to talk about something yet if that’s what you need. My aim at the end of the session is that you would know your treatment plan. I define a treatment plan as how often you’ll be attending counseling, the goals that we are going to work on together, and my method in which to help you get to those goals. I want you to feel clear about that as you leave, and you may have a little bit of “homework“ if you want to work on in between sessions!
