About Amanda

License #: 104068

I’m Amanda Steed, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing therapy in Texas, Washington, and Colorado. My work is trauma-informed, practical, and deeply compassionate—I help people make sense of what they’re experiencing and create a clear path toward healing and transformation. Many of the people who find their way to me are high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or disconnected on the inside. They may be tired of overthinking, second-guessing themselves, or repeating relationship patterns they can’t seem to change. Others are carrying the impact of past experiences—relational trauma, chronic stress, or spiritual/religious harm—and want a therapy approach that goes beyond coping to create real, lasting shifts. In our work together, you can expect a steady, non-shaming space that balances warmth and honesty. We’ll move at a pace that feels safe, while staying oriented toward meaningful change. I’ll help you understand the “why” beneath your patterns, strengthen your nervous system’s capacity for regulation, and build a road map that supports the life and relationships you want.

My Therapeutic Approach

My approach integrates evidence-based, trauma-focused modalities with a practical, human tone. I primarily draw from: Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) to guide how we pace the work, strengthen regulation, and create change that “sticks.” We’ll pay attention to what’s happening in your nervous system, your attachment patterns, and your lived experience—so insight becomes embodied, not just intellectual. Internal Family Systems (IFS-informed) to understand the “parts” of you that feel anxious, protective, reactive, perfectionistic, shut down, or scared—and to create more internal leadership, compassion, and choice. EMDR to help the nervous system process stuck experiences (including childhood wounds, relationship trauma, and painful memories) so they stop hijacking the present. Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) for OCD when OCD is part of the picture, with a focus on learning how doubt gets constructed and how to step out of obsessive loops without relying on reassurance. I’m attentive to both the story and the nervous system. We’ll zoom out to understand patterns, and we’ll also work in a focused way to shift what’s keeping you stuck.

Who I Help Best

I tend to be a great fit for people who: - Feel overwhelmed by anxiety, intrusive thoughts, doubt, rumination, or compulsive mental loops - Have a history of trauma (including relational or spiritual trauma) and want more than coping skills—they want transformational healing - Feel stuck in relationship patterns (people-pleasing, overfunctioning, shut down/avoidance, conflict cycles, fear of abandonment) - Are high-capacity, insightful people who still feel like they can’t “think” their way out of what they’re experiencing - Want therapy that is compassionate and deep, but also structured enough to feel like it’s going somewhere Many of my clients have done therapy before, or are even therapists themselves, and are ready for a more targeted approach—especially when talk therapy alone hasn’t shifted the underlying patterns.

What a First Session Is Like

The first session is primarily an in-depth assessment. I complete a full biopsychosocial assessment and gather the information I need to understand what’s bringing you in, what has shaped you, and what’s currently keeping you stuck. You can expect me to ask about things like: - current symptoms and stressors - relationships and support systems - medical history, sleep, and lifestyle factors - trauma history (only at the level that feels appropriate early on) - family background, attachment patterns, and major life experiences - coping strategies—what’s helped, what hasn’t, and what you’re tired of carrying My goal is to gather the right information to begin building a road map—a clear, personalized plan for healing and transformation. This approach of intentional information gathering allows me to see the big picture up front.
