About Maribel
License #: 206207Hi, I'm Maribel Perry, a bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and the founder of Silver Lining Couples & Family Therapy in Dallas. I work with couples and families who feel stuck. Maybe communication has broken down, trust has been damaged after infidelity, or you've started feeling more like roommates than partners. These struggles are more common than people think, and they don't mean your relationship is beyond repair. One of the biggest things I've learned is that most couples aren't struggling because they've stopped loving each other. They're struggling because no one ever taught them how to communicate through conflict, understand each other's needs, or reconnect after they've been hurt. That's where therapy comes in. Together, we'll build practical skills, work through the patterns keeping you stuck, and create a healthier way of relating to each other. I offer therapy in English and Spanish, both in person in Dallas and virtually across Texas, so getting support is as convenient as possible. Reaching out for help isn't always easy. But if you're here reading this, you've already taken the first step.

My Therapeutic Approach
My approach is warm, direct, and grounded in proven methods. I draw primarily from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method — two of the most researched approaches for couples and families. That means we won't just talk about your problems; we'll get underneath them, identifying the negative cycles that keep you stuck and replacing them with real connection. Sessions with me are active and practical. You'll leave with tools you can actually use — better ways to communicate, repair after conflict, and rebuild trust. I tailor everything to your unique relationship, culture, and values, and I offer everything in English or Spanish.
Who I Help Best
I do my best work with couples and families who've drifted apart — maybe you're trying to come back from an affair, maybe you love each other but feel more like roommates these days, or maybe your family just can't seem to talk without it turning into a fight. I work with couples and families from all backgrounds and walks of life, and I offer sessions in both English and Spanish — so if Spanish is your first language, or your relationship lives in both languages, you won't have to translate your feelings to be understood. And if you've caught yourself thinking "we should be able to fix this ourselves" or "it's not bad enough for therapy" — honestly, that's most of the people I see. You don't have to wait until things fall apart to start making them better.
What a First Session Is Like
Starting therapy can feel a little intimidating. That's completely normal. Most people aren't sure what to expect, and many worry they'll have to share everything right away. You won't. The first session is really just a conversation. I'll ask what's been going on, what brought you here, what you've already tried, and what you'd like to see change. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There's no pressure to talk about anything you're not ready to discuss. If you're coming in as a couple, my job isn't to decide who's right or who's wrong. It's to understand both of your experiences and help you start hearing each other in a different way. We'll also talk about how I work, answer any questions you have, and come up with a plan that makes sense for your situation. My hope is that when you leave, you don't feel like everything has been solved. That's not realistic after one session. But I do hope you leave feeling understood, with a little more clarity and a sense that things don't have to stay the way they've been. Sometimes, that's exactly what people need to take the next step.
