My Therapeutic Approach

Dr. Alvarez employs an integrative, evidence-based treatment model incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Individual (Adlerian) Psychology, and neurofeedback to address clinically significant symptoms and functional impairment. Interventions are guided by ongoing assessment and are aimed at symptom stabilization, reduction of distress, and improvement in psychosocial functioning consistent with medical necessity criteria.

Who I Help Best

I work with individuals with a history of depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse issues. These issues have a negative impact on a person's life and inhibit their ability to function at work and school. Over time, it negatively impacts their interpersonal relationships, or how they interact with their family, friends, and society. I am currently offering in in-person and telehealth services for psychotherapy. We also offer equine assisted therapy and certification for Emotional Support Animals

What a First Session Is Like

Our first session is a welcoming, collaborative conversation focused on understanding your concerns and goals. You’ll be invited to share what brings you to therapy at your own pace while exploring patterns in thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and stress responses. Dr. Alvarez integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify and reshape unhelpful thought patterns, Adlerian and person-centered approaches to foster belonging, purpose, and self-understanding, and both neurofeedback and biofeedback to support nervous system regulation, focus, and emotional balance through real-time physiological feedback. Together, you will outline practical goals and a personalized plan that may include skill-building, lifestyle adjustments, and brain-body regulation strategies. Most clients leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful, with a clearer path toward meaningful change.
