About Abby
License #: 2151Hi, I’m Abby. I believe that the bravest thing you can do is show up for yourself, even when things feel messy. My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a space where they can be heard without judgment and supported in their goals. I have over a decade of experience working with adolescents and young adults, and I’m especially passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals (ADHD, ASD, OCD) and those facing "in-between" stages of life. At this time, I am offering therapy both in person and online for new clients. Additionally, I am also an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and help those pursuing therapeutic licensure.
My Therapeutic Approach
I view therapy as a collaborative partnership. I utilize warmth and humor as we discover your strengths and use those to achieve your goals. My approach is integrative, meaning I pull from several evidence-based practices to meet your specific needs. I don't believe in wasting any client's time or money, and I want therapy to be an applicable tool. I pay close attention to how nervous system regulation, identity, family dynamics, neurodivergence, and past experiences shape present-day patterns. In sessions, we focus on increasing self-awareness, building emotional regulation skills, improving communication, and developing tools that are realistic and sustainable in daily life. I value collaboration and transparency in therapy. I regularly check in about what’s working, what isn’t, and how we can adjust. My goal is for therapy to feel both supportive and effective.
Who I Help Best
I work best with teens, young adults, and adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or misunderstood. Many of my clients are neurodivergent or identify with traits such as high sensitivity, perfectionism, or difficulty with emotional regulation and relationships. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, suicidality, school-related stress, identity development, and family dynamics. I also work with adults processing religious trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I’m a good fit for clients who want a therapist who is direct but compassionate, structured but flexible, and who understands that progress doesn’t always look linear. I especially enjoy working with clients who want therapy to feel validating, practical, and grounded in real life.
What a First Session Is Like
The first session is often the hardest part, so my goal is to make it feel as low-pressure as possible. We’ll focus on getting to know each other and creating a sense of safety and trust. I’ll ask about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and any concerns you may have about the process. You don’t need to have a perfectly curated list of problems to solve. You can show up exactly as you are (that includes being overwhelmed, cautious, ready to start, or anywhere in between). If it feels helpful, I will give you some strategies to try in between sessions. There is no pressure to get everything solved and sorted within an hour. The goal of this session is to ensure that you feel comfortable and that your goals feel attainable.
