About Cari
License #: 2079Seventeen years as a Registered Dietitian have shown me that practical, sustainable changes beat quick fixes. I earned my BS in Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois and my Dietetic Internship at Vanderbilt University, and have worked across private practice, clinical hospital settings, and industry. I own Riker Nutrition, where I specialize in digestive disorders. I worked at HCA as a dietitian and care collaborator, served as a diabetes educator at HCA and Meharry Medical College, and had a role with Roche Pharmaceuticals. As an RD, CDCES, and LDN, I blend clinical training with everyday strategies. Outside of work I coach and direct a volleyball club, and I enjoy running, cooking, and hiking.
My Therapeutic Approach
I use current research to guide recommendations while providing warm, nonjudgmental care. Education is a core part of my approach, and I focus on helping clients understand the “why” behind each strategy while building practical, sustainable skills they can use long term. You can expect clear, actionable steps and honest accountability, with attention to the whole person so changes fit your life and stick.
Who I Help Best
I work best with motivated individuals who are ready to improve their health through realistic, sustainable nutrition changes, not restrictive diets or quick fixes. Whether you're overwhelmed by digestive symptoms, frustrated with your weight, navigating menopause, or trying to improve your labs, we'll create a personalized plan that fits your lifestyle and goals.
What a First Session Is Like
We'll begin with a careful review of your medical history and any lab work or biometrics you can share, so I understand your health context. After that we'll take a deep dive into your relationship with food, routines, and what has or hasn't worked, all in a low-pressure, judgment-free conversation. Together we'll translate what we learn into one to two short-term, practical goals and a clear next step you feel comfortable trying. You do not need to have everything figured out before we meet.
