About Lauren
License #: 2547I received my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lipscomb University. I have a passion for helping those facing challenges on their parenting journey, and I’m interested in working with clients struggling with stress management, identity issues, relationship conflict, and processing life events. I have completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 and am a certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator. I also have experience leading our New Moms Group, and I have loved getting to hear moms’ stories through the experience. I am devoted to creating a space where her clients feel heard and understood by her, as she and her clients work together to implement practical steps toward their therapeutic goals. I understand that parents are often an overlooked population in the mental health world. I am committed to sitting with my clients through the difficult trials life may bring, and empowering them to make the changes they want to see.
My Therapeutic Approach
I like to take time with my clients to explore how their past is influencing their current relationships, patterns, and circumstances. You’ll learn how to better regulate your emotions, balance different areas of your life, gain insights into patterns that are no longer serving you, and care for yourself in the meantime. I use a combined approach of different therapy models that are targeted to meet my client's needs. I often use Solution-Focused Therapy interventions to help clients stabilize enough to do the deeper work of therapy, when I use more Emotion-Focused and Narrative based techniques to help clients produce deeper change in themselves. I recognize that it can feel daunting and isolating to be overwhelmed by your many responsibilities in this fast-paced world. Therapy can be the perfect place to slow things down and sort everything out in a way that feels empowering and transformative.
Who I Help Best
Some of my favorite clients to work with are the ones who are in caretaking roles. Whether they are already a parent, or on their way to be, my clients initially report feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or burnt out from juggling their many responsibilities. Clients who work well with me are typically concerned with caring for those around them, and they might have difficulties trying to balance their responsibilities. They can easily fall into a pattern of trying to “fix it” when things feel overwhelming, especially when it seems like everyone else has it all figured out. If any of the above sounds like you, I’m here to help! Clients like the ones I’ve described above have seen and felt immense improvement in their lives since beginning therapy with me.
What a First Session Is Like
In our first session, we’ll take some time to get to know one another and get context on the issues bringing you to therapy. I like to get a sense of a client’s goals, as well as coping strategies that they are already using to navigate the issues bringing them in. Our first few sessions will help us establish what therapy looks like, create a calming and empowering environment, and develop some strategies to help you begin to see small progress toward your goals. I strive to create a comforting and safe space for clients to bring in the easy and the difficult to discuss and process. I want my clients to feel both supported and safe while celebrating highlights and challenging themselves in the therapeutic space.
