About Laura
License #: 3997I strive to facilitate insight, positive change, and growth for young adults and adults. In my work, I consider collaboration and the therapeutic relationship to be the foundation of change and healing. I help individuals overcome difficulties such as eating disorders, adjustment to college, grief & loss, and relationship concerns. I am currently offering in-person and online therapy (or teletherapy) to help make therapy accessible to as many people as possible. Online counseling is easy to access and just as effective as in-person therapy. Additionally, I am an approved supervisor for those in the state of Tennessee pursuing LPC/MHSP licensure.
My Therapeutic Approach
I offer therapy that feels warm, honest, and deeply collaborative. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as you are, without needing to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have it all figured out. Together, we will slow things down enough to understand what your nervous system has learned, what your patterns are trying to protect, and what you actually need to feel steadier in your day to day life. My approach is grounded in evidence based care and guided by curiosity, compassion, and real life practicality. We will connect the dots between your experiences, your relationships, your body, and your symptoms, and we will build skills that help you feel more regulated, confident, and clear. Depending on your goals, our work may include trauma focused therapy, parts informed work, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and structured tools for anxiety, ADHD, and relationship stress. I believe therapy works best when it is relational and transparent. I will be direct and gentle, supportive and honest. You set the pace, and we will move in a way that feels safe, respectful, and sustainable. You do not have to do this alone.
Who I Help Best
I’m a good fit for clients who look high functioning on the outside and feel like they are barely holding it together on the inside, including those navigating people pleasing, burnout, and self criticism.
What a First Session Is Like
We will start with what brought you in and what you are hoping will feel different in your life. I will ask questions to understand your current symptoms, stressors, supports, and what you have already tried. We will also cover relevant background like relationships, family history, medical or medication factors, sleep, appetite, substance use, and any past therapy experiences. I will ask a few standard safety questions too, just so I can support you responsibly. Before we wrap up, we will identify a few initial goals, talk about what therapy with me can look like, and decide on next steps. If it feels helpful, I will offer a couple small, realistic strategies you can try between sessions. You do not need to tell your whole story in the first hour. My job is to help you feel safe and supported while we get oriented together.
