About Sydney

License #: 5836

I have been working in the mental health field for over ten years in multiple settings. I obtain licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation in the state of Tennessee, along with being an out-of-state Telehealth Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the state of Florida. I also hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialty in play therapy and expressive arts, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I have completed numerous specialized trainings, including EMDR, Brainspotting, Trauma Professional training, Anxiety-Informed Professional training, and Perinatal Mental Health training through Postpartum Support International. My journey of work through the mental health field has guided me to various opportunities throughout the years. I founded and direct a non-profit that works with children with different abilities and their families that utilizes equine, art, theatre, and music therapies and activities. I have experience as a Behavior Therapist for children on the spectrum, have worked at a psychiatric rehabilitation home for adults recovering from severe mental illness, and have volunteered my skills in numerous healthcare settings, on top of providing individual therapy for a variety of ages in the Nashville area. I also have a heart for and heightened experience working within the entertainment business and with those that are involved in the entertainment business.

My Therapeutic Approach

I work from an integrative and holistic lens that values all facets of my clients' health and well-being, including clients' emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health and well-being. By doing so with mindfulness and self-awareness, we have the opportunity to enhance other facets of life, including relationships, careers, and all that life offers. I incorporate multiple treatment modalities into my practice to enhance clients’ individual experiences and promote inclusivity. I believe that every individual has the strength within themselves to overcome any life challenge and deserves a helping hand to encourage and support them along the way on their path to growth and self-discovery.

Who I Help Best

I am passionate about working with adult women and older teen girls that are going through transformative and transitional years of life that are ready to take the next steps to grow through their stories, heighten their self-discovery, and discover their most authentic selves. I believe that is possible by providing a foundation of stability, inclusivity, support, belonging, and safety in our therapeutic relationship. My clinical interests revolve around transitions, anxiety/stress, trauma, relationships, self-esteem, women's issues (including pregnancy loss/infertility/high risk pregnancy), perinatal mental health, and grief/loss.

What a First Session Is Like

In our first session, we will review policies and any questions you might have about the therapy process, along with taking time to get to know each other to ensure you feel comfortable that we might be a good fit for counseling. Getting started in therapy and sharing your personal life stories is a big step, and I want to ensure that you get to share at a pace that feels comfortable for you as we get to know each other. I always encourage using the first session as a "feel it out" session so you can make the best decision for yourself about your therapy process.
