About Janet
License #: LSW6801I'm a psychotherapist with over 30 years of clinical experience. My interest in this work began early, shaped by growing up in a codependent and emotionally complex family system. From a young age, I was drawn to understanding human behavior, emotional regulation, and the way people adapt to survive. Later, my professional path was deepen by my own lived experience of addiction and long-term recovery. With 38 years in recovery, I bring a grounded, compassionate, and non-patholigizing lens to the therapy process. This experience informed my deep respect for the nervous system, attachment patterns, and the intelligence of adaptive responses. My approach is relational, somatic, and experiential. I integrate nervous system based and parts – informed modalities to support healing that unfolds through safety, pacing, and attuned presence. I am particularly interested in helping people move beyond insight, alone toward embodied, change, integration, and renewed agency. I believe therapy works best when it honors both resilience and vulnerability, and when healing is approached as a collaborative process rather than something imposed.
My Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that symptoms are intelligent responses to live experience. My work is experiential, relational, and deeply tuned to the nervous system. I draw from somatic experiencing, internal family systems, attachment-informed therapy, brain, spotting, Breathwork, dreamwork, and creative, narrative processes to help people gently access what is held beneath words. Rather than pushing for insight or change, I focus on creating enough safety for the body, emotions and inner parts to reveal themselves in their own time. Healing unfolds through presence, curiosity, and compassionate witnessing – supporting people to reconnect with their internal wisdom, resilience, and capacity for choice.
Who I Help Best
I work with adults, age 21 and over who are interested in exploring themselves with greater depth and curiosity. Many of the people I work with are navigating life, transitions, facing challenging, life circumstances, or sensing that old waste of coping are no longer serving them. My clients are often reflective, motivated, and open to an experiential therapy process that goes beyond inside alone, supporting, meaningful and embodied change.
What a First Session Is Like
A first session is an opportunity for us to get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, your hopes are your concerns, and what you've already tried. I also pay attention to pacing and safety, making space for your questions for anything that feels important to name. There is no expectation to tell your whole story or go anywhere you are not ready for. My goal is to create a grounded, supportive space where we could begin to understand what you were carrying and how you would like to work together.
