About Jazzmin

License #: 2806

Since 2002, I have had the privilege of supporting people through some of life's most challenging, confusing, and unexpected moments. I began in case management and transitioned to clinical work in 2008. Over the years, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in various settings, including schools, hospitals, jails, and community mental health programs. I have witnessed a great deal and, more importantly, learned a lot about people, resilience, and what it truly takes to help someone heal. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, and a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology. However, my real-life experiences in the field shape my work just as much as my formal education does. My approach is fundamentally humanistic and existential, meaning I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you reconnect with that understanding. I am fully present in the room with you, curious about your inner world, and committed to meeting you exactly where you are.

My Therapeutic Approach

I have 20 years of experience building rapport as it relates to the importance of respect & a non-judgmental understanding within my working relationship with all clients. My specialties are focused on Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy & Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a therapeutic approach used to relieve the distress caused by traumatic experiences or memories. I also utilize Mindfulness techniques to assist with becoming aware of yourself within the present moment through deep breathing and meditation.

Who I Help Best

I work with adults, adolescents, and couples on various issues. Some of the specific areas I excel at are with clients looking to conquer life's obstacles caused by trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. During our time together, I will create a supportive environment and assist you in establishing goals and skills needed to achieve your desired lifestyle.

What a First Session Is Like

Your first session with me is less about lying on the couch and discussing your past, and more about having a genuine conversation where we get to know each other. Before we meet, you'll fill out some intake paperwork that helps me understand what has led you to seek therapy. As we get acquainted, you will discover that my goal is to ensure you recognize that you are more than just your symptoms. We will discuss what the therapy process will look like for you, and I will be happy to answer any questions you have, especially if you have never been to therapy before. I understand that it can feel mysterious, and part of my role is to demystify it. I also believe that laughter has a place in the therapy room. Healing doesn't have to be heavy all the time, and if I can bring a smile to your face while we navigate the difficult topics, that is even better. My aim is for you to leave feeling like you can breathe a little easier than when you arrived, knowing this is a safe space where you can express things you have not been able to say out loud. In this first session, we won't solve everything in just one hour, but we will establish the foundation for your change.
