About Rachel

License #: 4714

On the surface, you're doing well: good job, decent relationships, semi-functioning adult. You're "fine." Internally, though? Your brain won't stop. It runs a constant loop of not good enough, what ifs, "did I say something weird during last Tuesday's dinner?", and "how many exclamation points in this email is too many?" You spend too much time rereading texts for hidden truths, contemplating how to write the "perfect" email, and doomscrolling when it all becomes too much. You've started to wonder- "Is this how life is supposed to be?" If this sounds like you, know that life does not need to feel this way. I help people just like you find out what okay actually feels like. I'm Rachel, a compassionate and down-to-earth therapist based in Nashville, TN. I help young adults who are struggling to set boundaries, engage in self-care, and feel drained from the way life is lifing start to feel more centered, confident, and connected with themselves. I'm here when you're ready.

My Therapeutic Approach

I show up with compassion, nonjudgment, warmth, and encouragement. I blend multiple therapy modalities, including psychodynamic, person-centered, relational, IFS, and CBT for many of the issues my clients face. For those with OCD, I utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard treatment for OCD. I am also trained in Somatic & Attachment-Focused EMDR (SAFE EMDR), used for those who are experiencing distress related to past trauma.

Who I Help Best

I love working with young adults and new parents who are struggling with anxiety, OCD, trauma, relationship challenges, and general life transitions. People-pleasing, hyper-independence, perfectionism, and spiraling thoughts are just a few examples of the common challenges my clients face. Through genuine human connection (and a little bit of humor along the way), I strive to help my clients go from stretched thin to feeling self-assured and fulfilled. As a mother of 3 girls, I am intimately aware of the physical, mental, and emotional ups and downs a person goes through during pregnancy and beyond. My personal experience coupled with formal training in perinatal mental health and perinatal mood disorders makes me uniquely qualified to help others who struggle with pregnancy loss, pregnancy & birth trauma, identity shifts, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, or OCD. I truly love working with this underserved population.

What a First Session Is Like

In our first session, we'll start by getting to know each other. I'll ask you about what brings you into therapy and a little bit about your history. Therapy can feel pretty intimidating at first - I get it. I will meet you where you are and we'll move at your pace. You do not need to share anything you're not ready to. At the end of our first session, I'll ask you about your goals for therapy to ensure we are on the same page. And, if you're not sure about your goals, that's okay too! We are in this together: whatever you are coming in with, we will tackle it together. After your first session, I will ask you if you'd like to utilize your out-of-network insurance benefits. If so, I will send you a Thrizer link: this platform will handle all of the claim submissions and reimbursements so you can get your money back on therapy without all of the headache.
